Martial Arts Black Belt FYI
Did you Know... When martial artists first received a belt to wear, that belt was always white. Yes, white. Through years of training, that white belt would be exposed to dirt, grime and even blood until it eventually turned black. Hence, a black belt was an individual with great experience and success in their martial art. This is also why it is a no-no to ever wash your belt. Never! If you ever meet a martial artist of great age and renown, you will notice that their black belt is slowly turning white again. As the belt frays and wears, the original white fibers show through turning the belt white again. This fact is a good representation of the full circle of life martial artists walk through. The idea that the beginning and the end are in the same place and it's the journey that matters. |
